Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces egg noodles (or any pasta of choice)
  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup frozen peas (optional)

Topping Options:

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed potato chips
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ cup additional shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add egg noodles and cook until just al dente (about 1-2 minutes less than package instructions).
  3. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Sauce

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together:
    • Cream of mushroom soup
    • Milk
    • Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder
  2. Stir in cheddar cheese until well combined.

Step 3: Assemble the Casserole

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In the casserole dish, combine:
    • Cooked pasta
    • Drained tuna
    • Frozen peas (if using)
    • Creamy sauce mixture
  3. Stir until everything is evenly coated.

Step 4: Add the Topping

  1. In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs (or crushed chips) with melted butter.
  2. Sprinkle evenly over the top of the casserole.
  3. (Optional) Add extra cheese for a gooey, golden-brown topping.

Step 5: Bake

  1. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbling.

Step 6: Rest and Serve

  1. Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley or extra cheese, if desired.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, use crushed potato chips instead of breadcrumbs.
  • Substitute Greek yogurt for a healthier version of the sauce.
  • Add diced bell peppers or mushrooms for more texture and flavor.
