  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce (divided)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (plus additional for marinade)
  • garlic powder
  • ground ginger
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice the steak thinly against the grain and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons soy sauce, cornstarch, 1 tablespoon sugar, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and pepper; pour over the steak and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Combine remaining soy sauce, cornstarch, and sugar in another bowl to create the glaze.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat; sauté sliced onions and bell peppers until browned. Remove from skillet.
  5. In the same skillet, cook marinated steak slices until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Return vegetables to the skillet; add glaze and stir until thickened (about 1-2 minutes).
