Instructions
Step 1: Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add olive oil, flour, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for 8 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
- Slice the pepperoni or salami.
- Grate the mozzarella cheese.
- Mix Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese in a small bowl.
Step 3: Roll & Assemble
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out dough into a 10×14-inch rectangle.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Layer cheese, meat, and seasoning mix evenly over the dough.
Step 4: Roll & Seal
- Roll the dough from the long side, tucking edges as you go.
- Seal the edges by pinching and pressing firmly.
- Place seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Step 5: Egg Wash & Bake
- Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the Stromboli.
- Make 3-4 small slits on top for ventilation.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Step 6: Cool & Serve
- Let Stromboli cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
