  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For Whipped Cream:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

For Hot Chocolate:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium-low until steaming (don’t let it boil).
  2. Whisk in cocoa powder, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
  3. Stir in the chocolate chips and melt them fully, whisking continuously.
  4. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract. Stir until combined.

For Whipped Cream:

  1. Chill a mixing bowl and whisk for 15 minutes before whipping.
  2. Combine heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla in the chilled bowl.
  3. Beat with an electric mixer or hand whisk until soft peaks form.

To Serve:
Pour hot chocolate into mugs. Top generously with whipped cream. Garnish with cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, or marshmallows if desired.
